FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We believe in giving our patients the information they need to make decisions with confidence. If you have questions, we’re here to help.
If you are above the age of 40, and have any of the following risk factors, scans are recommended. Even if you are in seemingly good health, without any symptoms, early detection is the key to disease prevention and scans are still highly encouraged.

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • High stress
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol, triglycerides
  • Tobacco usage, including prolonged exposure to secondhand smoke
  • Family history of heart disease or cancer
Most scans are considered screening exams and therefore can be scheduled by anyone without a doctor’s order.  A few exceptions to this can be regarding age (typically if the patient is under 40), family medical history or past personal medical history.
No, and here’s why – to receive a scan covered by insurance you must first have symptoms or just cause. If a scan is viewed as a preventative measure, insurance will not cover it.

Because these scans are out of pocket, we work to keep prices affordable. There are payment options ranging from introductory scans priced under $100, to 12-year Health Check Advantage plans that break the cost into yearly payments. To view our pricing, please visit our pricing page.

This simple, non-surgical test requires no injections, dyes, fasting or other preparations – everything about the test has been designed with your comfort in mind. Lying on your back in the open scanning chamber, the CT quickly and painlessly scans the area.  It takes images of your organs at a speed (1/20th of a second) that is much faster than other traditional CT or CAT scans. Because your organs, blood and fluids are in constant motion, only the fastest possible technology can capture an image clear enough for a doctor to determine what is happening inside you.
The entire scan takes only a few minutes. After your scan is complete, our radiologist will prepare a full report, pointing out any significant findings. Your report will determine whether further diagnostic testing is recommended.
The radiation exposure of our CT scanners is low. Typical, less accurate CT or CAT scans can expose you to up to 20 times more radiation.
Although the virtual colonoscopy is fast, non-invasive and doesn’t require anesthesia, you do still have to complete the prep. Because your doctor is looking for any abnormalities or areas of concern, we want to be sure that there is not any stool blocking the view of the colon.
